D’Artagnan had Superficial Pyoderma. His skin is very sensitive, I know that since I had him as a puppy, someone wanted to shave his belly since the coat was long and he wan’t peeing with his leg up yet so the coat was always soaked. He shaved him and the poor thing cried all night because his skin was scratching. He never got clipped since then.
So I puchased episoothe shampoo and conditionner. I had a good experience with virbac products so far, although I don’t use them for regular bathing. As soon as I gave him a bath he felt already much better. He stopped scratching. I had to shampoo him twice a week for 3 weeks to make his skin less red and scratchy.
I am currently looking for a topical cream to sooth his skin as I can’t make him stop scratching at all.
In a previous post I wrote about Aramis’ under skin lumps, small cyst that were there but which didn’t cause any problems.
I was petting him and I discovered some hairs sticking together with some bloody wound under it.
I thought he got wounded from the longboard riding straight at us but it wasn’t. We went to the vet to check this wound.
She trimmed all the hair and cleaned it up. She told me it was the cyst that broke. Aramis may have scratched it and it opened. It was full of dirty fluids.
She gave me an antibiotic : Cefpodoxime 100 mg. I have to give him 1/2 tablet for 10 days, once every 24h with food .
This is how it looks after the vet visit
I will post an update picture when it heals completely
She also told me he has 2 other ones which I knew about, they are smaller in size but if he scratches them, same thing will happen. She mentionned that I could have them removed if I wanted to.
I took couple months and now it is completely healed.
They both had a nose problem recently, Aramis had a bacteria growing under his fold , it was wet and smelly.
D’Artagnan had some redness and hair gone due to over licking his nose.
I researched a lot and found this great product on a bulldog forum.
Dog with a nose wrinkle are prone to bacteria.
I bought Douxo Chlorhexidine 3% PS Pads. It is very easy to use. One pad is way too big to use for only 1 dog , so I cut
it in 4th parts.
before : D’Artagnan
As you can see he is missing some hair over his nose
Aramis ‘wrinkle is a smell and bacteria issue which is less visible on the picture.
